The intent to organise a “Career Counselling Workshop” ahead of the SC and HSC results is to orient students on careers in the higher technical sphere, achieved through Polytechnics style education. Our objective would be to assist the young generation in making the right decision when making a career choice. This is not just an educational decision, this is a life decision which is going to have a social and economic impact. It is our duty to rightly guide our youth to ensure that they make the right decision and get a clear glimpse of what’s awaiting them in their future career.
The target audience will comprise of school leavers, unemployed and working professionals looking to right skill and upskill themselves, among others. Often times, students have a misaligned and incongruous view of how an educational pathway prepares them for a specific job or career. The distinctive spin behind this “Career Counselling Workshop” will be that it will be employer-led. It aims to demystify preconceived notions and doubts on the part of students, especially ahead of the release of SC and HSC results. It will take the form of a matchmaking workshop intending to pair up students with industry partners who will explain the profile of jobs in their respective industry and skills required to be successful at work and grow up the career ladder.
