There’s no confidentiality or secrecy to his project, claims Bollywood film director Madhur Bhandarkar. “The girls I’m shooting with are all new faces,” he told the journalists. Yet, during the press conference held at Constance Le Prince Maurice hotel yesterday, the five actresses starring in his new movie were not allowed to show their faces.

The newcomers’ identities or faces won’t be revealed until shortly before the movie is released in May 2015. Although the names of Akanksha Puri, former model who has acted in a few movies in South India, and Kyra Dutt, a model who has been a real-life calendar girl, have cropped up.

Part of the movie – 50% of which is already in the can – was shot in Mauritius at the end of September, including in Poste-de-Flacq at Constance Le Prince Maurice. An “exotic location” that has been on his “priority list”, especially for this film that is about “glamour”, “bikinis” and “beaches” but also “drama”, explained the 46-year-old National award-winning director. The actor Rohit Roy is also making a “special appearance”.

After the shooting in Mauritius, Bhandarkar will be off to New York to attend the 11th edition of the Syracuse International Film Festival, held from 5th to 12th October, where he is set to receive a Sophia Special Achievement Award. Two of his films, Fashion and Heroine, starring Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor respectively, will be screened.
