The organizers of the World Travel Awards, which is voted by travel agents worldwide, has released the winners of the 21st World Travel Award, where Mauritius was the winner of seven awards declared for the Indian Ocean region.

Continuing its award-winning spree, Air Mauritius was the grand winner for 10th consecutive year of the title of Indian Ocean’s leading airlines in 2014.  Air Austral, Air Madagascar and Air Seychelles featured among the other contenders for the post.

However, Air Seychelles bagged the title of Indian Ocean’s Leading Airlines for Business Class 2014, in which category Air Mauritius could only notch up a place among the nominees, together with Air Austral.

The Amédée Maingard Lounge for Air Mauritius at the Mauritius International Airport, for its part, came first among the Indian ocean’s Leading Airline Lounge 2014, where Air Austral: le Club Austral and Air Seychelles: Premium Lounge, were among the prime nominees.

For the second consecutive year, Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel, Mauritius was the winner of the Indian Ocean’s Leading Boutique Hotel 2014 title, surpassing Cocoa Island, Maldives and Constance Tsarabanjina, Madagascar, which were also nominated for the position.

However, the Indian Ocean’s leading Boutique Hotel Brand 2014 title was attributed to the Coco Collection, for which category Lux* Island Resorts appeared among the nominees, followed by Per AQUUM.

Furthermore, Mauritius lagged grand winner nominee Maldives among the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, in which category Madagascar also found itself nominated.

Mauritius also distinguished itself as the Indian Ocean’s leading Dive destination 2014, and that for the fourth consecutive year, followed by Madagascar and Maldives.

For the third year running, Mauritius came first in the Indian Ocean’s leading Honeymoon Destination 2014 category. Among nominees, Madagascar, Maldives and Reunion Island found themselves mentioned as serious contenders for the title.

The Indian Ocean’s Leading Hotel Suite 2014 was attributed by to The Royal Suite at ‘Le Touessrok’, Mauritius.  Ocean Haven at W Retreat & Spa – Maldives and Ocean Sanctuary at Jumeirah Dhevanafushi, Maldives were the two other nominees in the same category.

The One & Only Le Saint Géran, Mauritius, for its part, was the winner of the Indian Ocean’s Leading Resort 2014 title, and that after displacing Baros, Maldive, which was the grand winner in the same category last year.

Finally, One & Only Le Saint Geran, Mauritius was once more the winner of the title of Indian Ocean’s Leading Spa Resorts 2014, where Banyan Tree Seychelles and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island were among the top nominees.

The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge rewards and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
