Pas satisfait avec la réponse du ministre de l’Agro-industrie qui répondait à la Private Notice Question (PNQ) du jour, le député travailliste Arvin Boolell lui a lancé un cinglant : «waste of time ! Waste of energy ! Go to hell !». «Are you substituting yourself to God ? Going to hell or to paradise?», a alors demandé la Speaker Maya Hanoomanjee au député de Belle-Rose/Quatre-Bornes.
Ses propos, réplique Arvin Boolell «was meant for anybody who wants to go to hell». Une remarque qui n’a pas été au goût de Mahen Seeruttun, qui a alors soulevé un «point of order», demandant au député de retirer ses propos.
Arvind Boolell s’est défendu en disant : «I have raised a hell raising issue, I never told the minister to go to hell, unless he wants…». Son commentaire a mis le feu aux poudres, poussant la Speaker à intervener : «Did you address these particular words, go to hell to the minister».
«If he knows the way to hell then why should I be worried?», s’est exclamé Arvin Boolell en continuant les échanges avec la Speaker.
