Dear friends, here we are again on the threshold of a new  horse racing season. A season which will surely be full of surprises and excitement as usual.

Here are some fresh news from the racetrack.

Mark Neisius will be riding for the Raj Ramdin stable this season. The jockey won the Gold Cup in 2006 with Chief Warrior and the Maiden Cup in 2011 with Senor Versace, both horses from the Gujadhur stable but we must admit that he has not been in top form last season. Hopefully we will see a better Mark Neisius this season.

Cédric Ségéon will be there for Merven stable and surprising Derreck David will be on board for Rousset stable, after Allet and Fookune.

Horses to follow early this season are: Living With Heart, Princeton, Why Worry, Soaring Free and Big Lion for Merven stable; Polar Royale, Racketeer Blues, Forest Shelter, Pont d’Avignon, Colour Of Courage, New Star and Harba for Rousset.

Redtractor, Nordic Warrior and Act of Valor are horses that will do well for Perdrau stable.

Maingard stable will be a serious candidate for the stable championship with Tubewave, Censored, Casey War and Bandido Cabalero who will be surely win his first race on his first outing this season.

On another note, the Mauritius Turf Club has a new president in the name of M. J. Soobagrah. We wish him good luck on this new venture.

On international ground, one serious and exceptional case of cheating was registered in the US. Roman Chapa has been suspended for five years and fined USD 25,000 by the Texas Racing Commission.  The jockey was carrying an electrical shocking device while riding a horse to victory in Houston, the stewards determined.
