Seeking to boost Mauritius’ status as a regional ICT hub, the third edition of Infotech Rodrigues will be launched on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Basile Allas Government School, in Port Mathurin.

Jointly organised by the National Computer Board in collaboration with the Rodrigues Regional Assembly, the event aims to create greater awareness on emerging technologies and bring ICT closer to the Rodriguan population.

The two-day free-entry event is expected to bring together 12 exhibitors who will showcase their technology and ICT products and services and is expected to attract some 11,000 visitors.

The objectives behind this showcase event are to increase awareness in Rodrigues on emerging technologies; sensitise the population on the potential applications of ICT; generate awareness on career opportunities in the ICT sector; promote and encourage ICT literacy; and bring government services closer to the people by providing accessible and integrated online public services.

Further, the Infotech held at Rodrigues will also include an ICT Exhibition with displays by ICT companies from Mauritius and Rodrigues.

The event will also serve as a platform to boost ICT literacy by promoting the Digital Literacy Program (IC3) and Universal ICT Educational Programme (UIEP) Phase II.

Finally, the event is also expected to assist in the promotion of training and work placement for the ICT and BPO sector.

In the last edition of Infotech Rodrigues, some 11,000 people visited the venue and were introduced to the latest technologies.
