« …at no time in providing advice on behalf of the Solicitor General on the payment of indemnity to the co-respondent in the main case, have I been under any pressure or threat, nor have I given consideration to anything else than the strict application of the law of the land as it would apply to the facts of the case ».
L’affidavit du Deputy Solicitor General, juré en Cour suprême jeudi dernier, vient mettre à mal la thèse selon laquelle ce sont les pressions qu’aurait subies Rajesh Ramloll qui l’ont conduit à requérir des « conditions plus avantageuses » pour le bail de Sun Tan Hotels sur un terrain de l’Etat. Rajesh Ramloll estime que dire cela revient à faire une « gross oversimplification », puisqu’il dit avoir agi dans le strict respect des réglements.
Rajesh Ramloll avait précédemment juré un affidavit au nom de l’Attorney General avant de le retirer. Le nouvel affidavit a toutefois été « duly authorised by the Solicitor General, who acts under the direction of the Honourable Attorney General », agissant en vertu de la Law officers Act.
