The world’s no 1, Serena Williams, progresses to the next round of the competition after a comfortable victory over Daniela Hantuchova. She won 6-3 6-3 despite another terrible hot day (40°C) in Melbourne, Australia.

With this victory came a new record. Williams registered her 61st win in the singles main draw at the Australian Open, more than any other women.

Reports stated that the American refused a TV interview as she felt dizzy after the match, which she later denied. “I didn’t feel dizzy. I had some pressing things I needed to take care of,” said the 32-year-old. “I feel good to have got through that one because it was tough conditions out there, but I was happy to win.”

She will face either Samantha Stosur or Ana Ivanovic in the next round.
